Sekisui House Selected to CDP A List for Forests and Water Security
Sekisui House, Ltd. / 2025.2.6
Sekisui House, Ltd. was recognized for leadership in disclosure and performance for Forests and Water Security, being selected for the 2024 A List from CDP, a global organization that evaluates corporations on their environmental performance. This marks the third consecutive year that Sekisui House has been named to the A List for Forests and the second consecutive year for Water Security.
CDP is a global non-profit charity that runs the world’s environmental disclosure system for companies, cities, states, and regions. Founded in 2000 and working with more than 700 financial institutions with over $142 trillion in assets, CDP pioneered using capital markets and corporate procurement to motivate companies to disclose their environmental impacts, and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. In 2024, over 24,800 companies, representing more than 66% of the global market capitalization, disclosed data through CDP. This includes more than 2,100 companies in Japan, accounting for over 70% of prime market listed companies.
Fully TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) aligned, CDP holds the largest environmental database in the world, and CDP scores are widely used to drive investment and procurement decisions towards a zero carbon, sustainable and resilient economy.
Sekisui House aims to be a leading company in ESG management based on its global vision to “make home the happiest place in the world.” We will continue to promote these environmental measures and contribute to building a sustainable society.
We believe that our selection as an A List company in each category is a recognition of our efforts in the following areas:
・Forests
In 2007, we established our own Wood Procurement Guidelines and have been promoting ‘FairWood’ procurement. Since 2001, we have also been promoting nature-positive urban environments through our “Gohon-no-ki” (5 Trees) indigenous landscaping project. As a leader in environmentally-friendly business practices, we will continue to actively disclose information on risks and opportunities in the use of natural capital in line with the guidelines of the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD).
・Water Security
Our group is mainly engaged in businesses that use little water, such as construction and renovation, but we take a medium- to long-term perspective on water risk and emphasize the sustainability of water resources to respond to the significant impact on our business and related supply chains. At our production sites specifically, we work to use water efficiently by, for example, using recycled water in our factories.
